Build two train stations, one near each industry, connect them with rail, build a depot (watch out the orientation so it is connected to your railway), buy a locomotive and wagons that can contain coals, and set it to run between the two stations. Avoids needing to bus or truck cargo short distances. Use Ctrl+RMB (or Cmd+Click on Mac) to join stations to increase coverage. Trains are where you make the most money. Use buses and trucks only for short distances, mainly for feeder lines to increase coverage of train stations in large towns.
